Ages 6-13    (younger by special exception)

Our camp program is based on open-ended, child-led activities. We base our days around kids' interests, meaning every day looks different!

Unstructured, outdoor exploration is one of our priorities. Kids will spend most of their day outside (weather permitting), connecting with nature and having a blast!

During their week at Reptile Camp, campers will:

  • learn about reptiles, amphibians, and more

  • have hands-on experiences with our collection of native and exotic reptiles

  • explore pond and forest habitats

  • catch some cool creatures

  • learn the importance of respecting and conserving nature

  • feed their favourite reptiles

  • play games

  • make crafts to bring home

Leader In Training Program: Ages 13+

Leaders In Training (LITs) will develop skills in leadership, animal care, and more!

The LIT Program is a 2-week program offered this year at a discounted rate of $300 per 2-week session.

LITs will participate in some camper activities, but will also join our staff to learn:

  • How to lead activities and games

  • Animal care skills, including hands-on experience helping our staff

  • What a career working with wildlife can look like

  • Outdoor skills like risk assessment, navigation, and more!

This program uses small groups to target participants' specific interests and skills!

NEW for 2026:
Arts-Focused Weeks!

This summer, we'll be offering several arts-focused weeks! In these sessions, we'll have more structured art activities and projects running alongside our normal open-ended programming for several hours each day.

Kids will hear what that day's activity is and decide if they'd like to join in or stay with their regular group's activities. Kids can participate in some, all, or none of the projects!

Kids will still do all other activities, including drop off, pick up, and lunch, with their normal groups.

Activities will focus on visual art, but may include music, movement, or drama depending on kids' interests.

Arts-focused dates will be listed in the registration form!

Reptile Camp FAQ

What hours does camp run?

Drop off is from 8:30 - 9:00, and pick up is from 4:00 - 4:30. We have extended care available from 8:00 - 5:30 for an additional cost.

Is Reptile Camp a good fit for my 5-year-old?

Reptile Camp accepts kids younger than 6 by special exception. Reptile Camp days are very active and mostly outdoors, and include a lot of walking. Some young children find it difficult or overwhelming to participate in a full active day (especially since a camp day is longer than most school days). Other kids do great and thrive on being able to run around all day! Our priority is making sure all kids can have a safe, comfortable experience and participate fully.

Children MUST be fully independent in changing, toileting, and carrying their belongings. We also take into account the average age of kids in each week, since it can vary significantly over the summer. While we split kids into rough age groups, we allow all kids to move between groups to pick their favorite activity, be with siblings, etc. That means many activities are done with kids across different age groups.

If you'd like to register your 5-year-old, please send us an email at reptilecamporillia@gmail.com. We're happy to discuss!

Can I register my child for individual days?

Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate individual dates. Children must be registered for the full week.
